Detailed Information
Panellinion (ΠΑΝΕΛΛΗΝΙΟΝ) is a traditional kafenio (cafe) in Athens, located in the Exarchia district. It is a famous place for chess players. It is definitely not a place for people who love gentrified neighbourhoods. It is quite the opposite: old wooden chairs, Ellinikos coffee, lots of old photos. The place has character and is an institution. World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov is said to have visited it in 1992 and played simultaneous chess against some of the regulars. Also Anatoly Karpov was there.
