Findorffer Schachfreunde e.V. (FSF) is a vibrant chess club located in Bremen, Germany. In collaboration with SK Bremen-West, it forms the “SG FinWest” playing community, fielding eight teams that compete in leagues up to the Verbandsliga Bremen/Niedersachsen. The club is known for hosting several tournaments, including the annual Burkhardt-Mentz-Memorial, which doubles as the Bremen Rapid Chess Championship, and other events like Quick-Step and Youth Rapid Chess. The club also hosts the Offene Bremer Blitzeinzelmeisterschaft (Open Bremen Blitz Individual Championship).
The club offers a comprehensive training program for both adults and youth. Adult game nights are held every Wednesday from 8:00 PM. For younger players, advanced youth training (ages 10+, DWZ 950+) takes place on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM, while advanced children’s training (up to age 12) is scheduled for Wednesdays from 5:15 PM to 6:30 PM. Beginner children’s training (up to age 12) occurs on Thursdays from 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM. Training sessions generally do not occur during school holidays, but individual arrangements can be made.
The club is actively seeking new players to strengthen its teams and tracks DWZ ratings for its members. Located at Plantage 13 (Eingang 10), 28215 Bremen, Findorffer Schachfreunde e.V. welcomes guests and new players to join its thriving chess community.
