Helmstedter SV, founded in 1894, is one of the oldest chess clubs in the Braunschweig district and Lower Saxony. Located in Helmstedt, Germany, this welcoming club invites guests to enjoy blitz and rapid chess games. Game nights are held every Thursday from 6:00 PM at the Jugendfreizeit- und Bildungszentrum, with convenient parking available at Wallplatz. The club forms a community partnership with SV Schöningen, known as “SG Elm/Lappwald,” and fields three teams in the Schachbezirk Braunschweig league. Helmstedter SV also hosts several tournaments, including the Neujahrsblitz, Elm-Lappwald City Championship, and a Rapid Chess Tournament.
