Schachfreunde Siemensstadt e.V. is a distinguished chess club located in the Siemensstadt district of Berlin’s Spandau borough. As a member of the Berlin Chess Federation, the club is dedicated to promoting chess as a creative and stimulating leisure activity. It participates in the regular Berlin chess system while adhering to amateur and grassroots sports principles. The club boasts three teams in league play and offers a diverse program of internal tournaments and training events for members and guests. Schachfreunde Siemensstadt collaborates closely with the Herder-Gymnasium chess club, recognized as a “Deutsche Schachschule” in 2007. The club’s rich history dates back over 100 years, celebrating its centennial in 2013. Regular meetings are held every Friday at Herder-Gymnasium from approximately 6:30 PM.
